Training Services

About CJW Training Services

Training is available for a number of fundraising software products, including The Raiser’s Edge, Results/plus, Exceed!, DonorPerfect, Paradigm, and more. We also offer training in Microsoft Office products and various financial software products such as QuickBooks and The Financial Edge, as well as Crystal Reports.

In the early days of CJW Consulting & Services, Inc. (originally known as CJW Enterprises), owner Cheryl Weissman was asked to provide on-site training for a client. Having designed and delivered classroom trainings for 5 years prior to opening her consulting business, Cheryl found that training on-site, using the client’s own data, dramatically increased the retention of information, made all the exercises and examples meaningful for the attendees, and allowed them to really understand how their use of the software could be improved with more reliable data input and tracking.

As a result, Cheryl made the decision not to offer classroom training for CJW’s clients. Aside from the clear benefits of on-site training, this decision meant that CJW did not have to take on the overhead of maintaining a software training classroom, and that savings is reflected in our training costs.

CJW began offering webinars in 2007. As a result of those sessions, requests began coming in for more detailed web training on specific topics for individual organizations. We began providing personalized, hands-on web training in 3-hour blocks in 2009.

Whichever training delivery method you choose, each training is customized to meet the needs of your organization.

On-Site Training

On-site training is done using your data and equipment. We will work with you to come up with a viable training schedule, but when possible we prefer not to train on consecutive days. We find that people are better able to retain information if (A) they have some time between sessions to absorb what they are learning before more information is given to them; and (B) they have some time between sessions to perform their normal duties, so they don’t get the sense that the training is getting them too far behind in their work.

All on-site trainings have a flat per day fee that is based upon the number of attendees registered.

For more information, please contact us at 866/598-0430 or email Cheryl.

Webinars

Webinars are offered regularly in a variety of topics. Each session is 90 minutes long and is open to anyone working with a nonprofit or seeking employment with a nonprofit.

Attendees connect to the webinars via GoToWebinar. This is a secure site that allow registrants to view a CJW computer so that all attendees are seeing the same information. Attendees call in to a toll-free number in order to participate and hear questions and thoughts from other attendees.

Web Training

Web training is available upon request. While we are happy to work with you to come up with a training program to meet your specific needs, we also offer training sessions that mirror many of the webinar topics. The web training sessions are provided specifically for your organization and are 3 hours in length, allowing us to cover each topic in more depth. Click here to go to our online training page.

In addition, for web training sessions, we connect to up to 4 of your computers, using GoToAssist. This allows staff members attending web training to sit at their desk and work with their software, just as they would if we were on-site doing the training. As with the webinars, attendees call in to a toll-free number in order to ask questions and hear questions and comments from other attendees.

If you select a web training program that requires more than one session, we will work with you to come up with a viable training schedule, but we do not train on consecutive days. We find that people are better able to retain information if (A) they have some time between sessions to absorb what they are learning before more information is given to them; and (B) they have some time between sessions to perform their normal duties, so they don’t get the sense that the training is getting them too far behind in their work.
